Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.
The role
The Shutdown Coordinator reports to the Shutdown Planning Superintendent, supporting the delivery of effective plans and schedules designed to maximize the efficiency of the shutdowns and drive improved equipment performance. The Shutdown Coordinator is responsible for driving communication for shutdown planning, schedule and site execution.
In this role, you will
- Shutdown schedule optimized and delivered as per shutdown process
- Champion the Shutdown Management Process with site teams
- Support the site team during execution
- Clear and transparent communication between site and the central AM planning function to provide feedback on and adjustments to the scope & shutdown plan to drive efficiency & optimization
- Maintains consistent communication with the site operations teams & centralized planning teams, providing input and feedback to support the development of the shutdown plan & schedule, including resource and material availability
- Facilitates Shutdown Planning meetings
- Provides detailed scoping on complex tasks
- Reviews all critical scope of works to ensure quality and accuracy
- Reviews the schedule and provides feedback to optimize the schedule
- Coordinates clash reviews out in the plant and Liases with all key stakeholders
- Experience in a heavy industry or asset management role, with both equipment maintenance and planning experience desirable
- Previous experience in shutdown planning is desirable
- Experience with manual and computerised maintenance planning systems
- Ability to effectively prioritize jobs in order of importance
- Demonstrated strong inter-personal relationship skills and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, confidence in communicating across multiple levels in the organization and ability to effectively communicate both in person and virtually
- Ability to quickly assess information to diagnose problems and opportunities, with a record of accomplishment of strong professional judgement and critical thinking
- Ability to engage with and influence stakeholders across Newmont including central Asset Management, operations, supply chain, and external partners
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high performing, multi-disciplined, diverse team
The role is based in Tanami and offers an 8 days on and 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth, Brisbane, Darwin or Alice Springs.
