Our client is a leading manufacturing company seeking to expand its leadership team due to a positive restructure. The company is dedicated to safety, quality, and manufacturing excellence, aiming to provide innovative solutions to its clients. They are looking for an Operations Manager who can drive success at their large plant and serve as a critical link between the CEO and the operations team.
Role Overview
As the new Site Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing processes at the site. You will be responsible for people leadership, driving manufacturing excellence, and maintaining a high standard of health, safety, and environment (HS&E). Reporting to the CEO, you will act as a 2IC, providing strategic direction and operational leadership.
This role requires a hands-on approach, with a strong presence on the plant floor. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing all manufacturing operations, ensuring processes run efficiently and production goals align with the company's broader mission and vision.
- Contributing to business planning, forecasting performance, and driving the implementation of strategies.
- Monitoring HS&E performance, addressing any non-compliance, and implementing improvements to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
- Leading and motivating the operations team, fostering a customer-focused approach, and building a cohesive unit.
- Managing projects, optimising workflows, and understanding risk management to ensure the site operates at peak efficiency.
- Interpreting financial data, understanding customer needs, and communicating effectively across all levels of the organisation. Key Qualifications and Skills
- Lean Manufacturing: Extensive experience with lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies. Ability to implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives that enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Manufacturing and Design: Proven expertise in manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing (DFM). Knowledge of production systems, manufacturing technologies, and product design optimisation to ensure high-quality output.
- Strategic Planning: Strong capability in strategic planning, with the ability to develop long-term business plans and implement effective operational strategies.
- Leadership and Team Building: Experience in leading cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and building a cohesive unit that is aligned with company goals.
- Project Management: Proficiency in managing projects, planning workflows, and understanding risk management. Strong organizational skills to ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to interpret financial data and use it to inform operational decisions. Experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E): A strong commitment to HS&E, with experience in monitoring and improving safety standards. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and best practices in safety management.
