We have started operations in Australia in 2021 and quickly emerged as a leading player for Australians to buy and sell used cars 100% online. Cars24 Australia’s mission is to transform how Australians buy cars. Imagine a truly Amazon-like experience where you can search, buy, get financing, insurance, and warranty fully online. The car shows up at your doorstep to either love or return at no cost. Unlike an average dealer, we invest 4-5x in each car when reconditioning it to the highest used car quality standard in the market. This becomes possible due to one of a kind reconditioning facility that is built for scale and quality. Our Melbourne refurbishment facility is set to produce close to 1000 cars at full capacity, a scale of operations non existent in Australia today.

About the role:
As the manager of our Melbourne Reconditioning Facility, your main goal is to successfully operate a world class facility with 50+ technicians. This amazing opportunity to be hands-on and run an end-to-end reconditioning facility - Mechanical, Roadworthy, Detailing, Paint shop, PDR and Quality inspectors. This includes top quality equipment - brand new hoists, detailing equipment, Photo Booth and Low Bake Paint setup.
You will pioneer the future of used car repair, leveraging the latest technologies and management techniques to build a collaborative culture that delivers best in class efficiencies from the workshop. As a “digital first company” you will also receive significant support from the Technology side of our business to bring your ambitions to life - we are already far along the journey of building our own DMS that will be best in the market.
You will report to the Melbourne Head of Refurbishment and work closely with the broader management team.
Responsibilities include:
- Successfully manage a large multi brand used car workshop – currently operating at ~300 cars / mo, but sized to deliver 1000+ used cars / month within ~1 year
- Owning core KPIs for Melbourne: Volume throughput, cost of reconditioning without compromising on any of our quality metrics
- Continuous improvement: Work on projects that would constantly challenge our own benchmarks
- Hire and grow a leadership team that enables us to scale our operations
What you should have:
- Operations Rock star: Strong credentials in having managed large operations. Someone who can get his hands dirty in the details, run large effective teams and lead by example
- 8+ years of experience: across industries and leading teams. Automotive experience would be a plus
- A keen eye for detail: Passion that extends beyond operational work - you will own the end to end process.
- True people leader: An ability to build a collaborative culture that isn’t bound by ‘how it is done elsewhere’ - we will employ new technology to assist our operations and be constantly implementing the team’s ideas to improve how we operate
- Solid financial acumen and a real grasp over how to read and understand data
- Excellent ability to collaborate and apply a cross-functional mindset
