The Opportunity
CSIRO is looking for a motivated and driven Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join our growing Site Management Team working on the SKA-Low Telescope project at Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory.
The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is a next-generation radio astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics. Enabled by cutting-edge technology, it promises to have a major impact on society, in science and beyond.
In Australia, the SKA) is collaborating with CSIRO to operate and support the construction of the low frequency telescope (SKA-Low) in remote Western Australia on Wajarri Yamaji Country.
The Traditional Owners and native title holders, the Wajarri Yamaji, have gifted CSIRO with the traditional name Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara for the CSIRO Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory, home to the SKA-Low telescope. The traditional name means 'sharing sky and stars' in the Wajarri language.
The SKA-Low Site Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the Site Manager and Deputy Site Manager to oversee the safe construction of the SKA-Low radio telescope and associated site infrastructure on Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, CSIRO's Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory.
The role will be part of a small site management team led by the Site Construction Director. The Site Supervisor will be the Site Management Team representative at the construction site and will work on a back-to-back on a rotating roster at the telescope site.
Your duties will include:
Represent the SKAO in daily prestart meetings with the construction contractor workforce and SKAO operations and maintenance team meetings.
As part of the Site Management Team, work with contractors to ensure the planned execution of works comply with key project documents.
Prepare and distribute a daily report on site activities.
Collaborate with CSIRO's Site Entity team when required for overall support and coordination of activities.
Communicate openly, effectively, and respectfully with all staff, contractors, stakeholders, suppliers and visitors in the interests of collaboration and enhancement of the SKA Observatory and CSIRO's reputation.

Salary: AU$105,806 - AU$114,500 plus applicable site allowances plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:
Essential
Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and colleagues, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and community.
Previous experience in overseeing construction sites, large scale civil operations or remote farming / station operations. Demonstrated experience with working in a small team and contributing constructively to an inclusive and high performing team culture.
Commitment to safe work practices and environmental sustainability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ie. Report writing, emails, workflows, liaising with stakeholders, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation.
Proven ability to utilise relevant computer software packages, such as Microsoft Office applications.
State/Territory issued light vehicle driver's licence.
Desirable
Demonstrated experience with working in remote / isolated locations.
Knowledge and understanding of the Australian engineering standards (electrical, civil, structural).
Experience with interpreting maps, waypoints and zones on GPS software packages.
Experience with supporting flora and fauna surveys.
Other High Risk Works licences or Western Australian Heavy Rigid licence.
