Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world and we operate the world’s largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia – so you are joining a unique team! As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas, electric vehicles, and wind turbines.
Lynas is embarking on an expansion in Western Australia, and we have an opportunity for a driven SMP Construction Supervisor wanting to join us on our journey. Lynas recently announced an approximately $500M project to expand the capacity at the Mt Weld mine and concentration plant to meet accelerating market demand for rare earth minerals. In this key role reporting to the SMP Superintendent/Senior Project Engineer, you will play an integral role in developing, coordinating, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating the SMP Contractors construction progress for the Mt Weld Expansion Project. This is a fixed term 1-year contract, fly in/fly out (FIFO) position from Perth to Mt Weld on a 2/2 roster (14days on:14days off).
As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team, you will:
- Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the Lynas and contractor workforce
- Actively monitor work practices and coach the contractor and their employees to ensure adherence to correct HSE and quality policies and procedures
- Review contractor performance, day sheets, equipment allocation and records
- Communicate with Management Team and Contractor representatives to inform and validate project progress and resolve any issues
- Assist in planning and organisation work to meet the projects requirements and promote productivity
- Adhere to all site rules and inspire colleagues and contractors to work safely and efficiently
- Input into contractor coordination of their resources, including equipment and materials, to effectively execute works
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, vendors, contractors, troubleshooting any issues that arise during installation
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Foster a culture of safety and excellence, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Undertake client attendance and witnessing for completions, inspections and test records
- Assist Lynas Superintendents and Engineers as required
What you will bring to the team:
- Prior experience in Concentration and/or Resource Process Plant construction as a Supervisor or Superintendent within Australia or for Australian Engineering or Construction firms (min 3+ yrs).
- Demonstrated initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently, as well as in teams
- Ability to prioritize and deliver project outcomes to timelines and under pressure.
- Proven leadership capabilities.
- Intermediate MS Office skills (desirable).
Qualifications and/or Skills:
- Trade Qualification and Certifications related to SMP Construction and Fabrication
- C Class – WA Manual Driver’s license C class manual driver’s license, and comfortable with driving on gravel roads
