What you’ll be doing in this role?
Working as part of the headspace Morwell multi-disciplinary team and reporting to the Manager headspace and Youth Services the focus of this role is to enhance access for First Nations young people aged 12-25 to early invention mental health supports.
The SEWB worker will facilitate culturally appropriate activities to engage First Nations young people and enable seamless transition into the supports offered by headspace Morwell whilst building the capacity of the existing workforce to respond to the unique needs of First Nations young people
Your work will include:
- Walk along-side young people to support access to headspace Morwell and Youth Services and to ensure coordinated care
- Develop initiatives and strategies to assist in engaging and linking young people in to headspace Morwell
- Participate in community awareness raising initiatives to increase mental health literacy, reduce stigma, encourage early help seeking and promote access to headspace Morwell services
What we’re looking for:
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
- A current Working with Children Check (Employee) or VIT Registration
- A qualification in youth work, Aboriginal health work or other relevant health/youth qualification (Desirable)
A local First Nations person with established connections in the Latrobe Valley and Baw Baw areas
