ABOUT THE ROLE
Based in Brisbane, the Support Specialist role is a permanent full-time position working with a close-knit team providing second and third level software support. We are NOT looking for a networking or hardware guru, but rather a person that understands how (SQL) databases and server/client software operate under the hood. Someone who has an interest in computer languages but doesn't want to be full blown developer would be perfect for the role.
Our support is provided by phone, email and video conferencing and covers point of sale, inventory management, and financial queries to meet the growing needs of our clients and to match the increasing capabilities of our software.
The successful applicant will:
- Undertake a well-established and comprehensive in-house training program.
- Interact with clients ranging from small retail clients to large national companies.
- Provide effective and courteous second and third level Software Support via both electronic and phone correspondence.
- Record, track, and document help desk requests through to the final resolution.
- Identify, escalate, and triage requests to the next level of support in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot Windows operating systems.
- Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to the team for consideration and implementation.
- Complete testing of software changes including the documentation of results.
- Update support documentation when required.
Essential Skills and Experience
An understanding of Server/Client based software and relational databases.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including understanding SQL related queries.
- Experience in a software support role. It doesn’t have to be in the IT, Automotive or Tyre industry, although either would be an advantage. Mostly, you must have the desire to help people.
- Be able to plan and manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
- Knowledge of Windows Operating systems, both local and server based.
- A clear understanding of the value of customer service and great communication skills.
- A patient and calm manner, with a measured approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Ability to work both in a team and independently.
- Ability to handle confidential matters; to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Candidates must hold permanent residency or citizenship in Australia.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in a similar role providing software support.
- Experience using an online service desk ticketing system (specifically the ZOHO suite of software).
- Experience with the Office 365 suite of products.
- Experience with Point of Sale and Small Business processes.
- Automotive industry knowledge.
