Junior Solicitor

We are a boutique firm based in Oxley seeking a solicitor 0-2 years PAE for a casual role with hours varying between 35 and 40 hours per week. 

This is an ideal position for a person who lives locally, is flexible and has or is keen to get their ‘foot in the door’ and gain knowledge and experience working in a law firm. You will gain practical knowledge and hands on experience working in the real world. The broad and valuable exposure to legal work will be like no other firm out there. 

Your workload would change week to week according to firm requirements. It is hoped and anticipated that the firm’s workload will increase over time, and that the position will offer greater hours. 

Duties would include the following:

1. Appearances in Court for mentions, interim hearings and criminal sentences 
2. Instructing Barristers 
3. Preparing Affidavits, Case Outlines, Submissions and other court documents 
4. Consults and conferences with clients
5. Answering telephone calls/enquiries
6. Drafting and typing letters
7. Entering critical dates into an electronic database
8. Drafting and typing file notes 
9. Lodging and filing documents in the city
10. Preparing briefs and lists of documents
11. Completing file checklists
12. Filing court documents electronically 
13. Sending emails and attachments to clients & other parties.
