Melbourne’s Iconic Donovans Restaurant, located on the foreshore of St Kilda beach, is seeking a talented and ambitious Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team. This is a great opportunity to work alongside a passionate team, leading a creative and friendly team and willing to share their passion for food with a young and talented team.
You will play an important role in the training and development in our apprentice-based kitchen by supervising, training and inspiring young chefs. But also your job will include, duties like ordering and stocktake, cost control and wastage control, menu development, and attention to detail serving quality dishes.
Ideally you will have worked in a similar style restaurant, or a high volume restaurant with a resume showing a stable work history, have a good understanding of modern Mediterranean/Australian cuisine and a customer focused attitude.
What we look for in the perfect candidate:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a kitchen leadership role is Preferred
- A passion for providing high quality food
- Excellent food knowledge of local and international cuisine
- Experience in planning, budgeting and menu development
- Experience in food costing, wage costing and stock control
- Ability to lead the team by example to a high standard
- Be Hands on, extremely organised with a passion for staff development
- Have a strong emphasis on quality, speed of service, cleanliness and organisation
- Ability to adapt to different scenarios and events
- Display honest and respectful behaviour
