We're on the hunt for an experienced Chef with Italian or woodfired cooking experience to cook up a storm, and lead our small kitchen at Campground Kitchen & Bar.

What’s on the menu?

Our dishes embody the essence of Italian/European cuisine, predominantly fresh pasta & wood fired pizza, steak, fish and chicken, along with handcrafted cocktails and local craft beer. We have a solid menu but love to incorporate monthly specials. 

While our team of Pizza Chefs masterfully handle the wood fired pizza, we need YOU to work with the rest of our kitchen team and spearhead the other offerings, including shared plates, sides, pasta and mains. Key ingredients for success here? Tasty, simple offerings, swift service, and impeccable quality and consistency.

What are we looking for?

  • You must have experience with pasta and Italian food - we're all about simple but delicious food! 
  • Your plating skills must be exceptional - with eye to detail and a passion for presentation.
  • You must be a team player, calm and able to communicate clearly with both BOH and FOH staff and able to remain even-tempered even when there's a busy rush. 
  • Someone dynamic, creative and adaptable, always eager to try fresh culinary adventures.
  • Experience in managing the PASS and flow of a kitchen is essential! 
  • Experience keeping track of inventory. Our warehouse manager is happy to help with food orders but she needs input from the kitchen at the end of every week. 
  • Someone who cares about a clean kitchen and can help set the standard for cleanliness. Our entire team is expected to clean up after themselves.
  • Effective communication with our trusted suppliers, pricing new menu delights, and bringing out the best in our team.
  • Must be available for our peak times - Friday and Saturday night and preferably Sunday lunch. But we are open to negotiating Sunday off for the right person.

Your responsibilities will include: 

Cooking our menu to a high standard, with the assistance of our Chef de Partie and kitchenhand on busy nights. You must be willing to cook alone on quiet nights. 

You must understand how the Pass is run so you can communicate with our Pizza Station,  supervise stock control, and uphold quality food standards in terms of plating and taste.

You need to know how to maintain relationships with suppliers and uphold stringent Food Health & Safety standards.

We rely on your organisational skills to maintain prep lists, assist with ordering, and ensure the kitchen runs smoothly. You'll contribute to menu planning, trial new dishes, and be aware of costings.

Do you tick these boxes?

  • A minimum of 6 years of culinary experience - must be strong with communication, have knowledge of running the Pass, passion for top quality food, attention to detail, impeccable plating skills, and references available on request.
  • Genuine love and interest in Italian dishes, bbq or woodfired cooking.
  • Must be clean, organised, be willing to clean up after yourself and maintain a spotless kitchen.
  • Be a compassionate and friendly person, welcoming diversity. We do not tolerate bullying or rudeness in our kitchen. It is a team environment and if you have a large ego, we are not the place for you.
