We are looking for a unique person who is able to make St John’s Community Services’ Urban Insight program even more impactful. Our Urban Insight program gives real understanding of the issues facing patrons of Rough Edges - homelessness and home insecurity, addiction, poverty, AIDS, disability, mental health, trauma - to school students and other groups, through a guided walk or presentation by someone with lived experience. Participants leave with increased empathy and understanding of what life is like for those at the edges of society so they can be treated with compassion and dignity.
Schools are the primary participants in our Urban Insight program. Recently we have been awarded short term funding to grow this program into more schools. As a secondary focus, we would like to explore developing a model for expanding this and potentially one of our other programs, Banksia Women, through partnerships with other churches in the Sydney Anglican community.
