About the role:
Provide administrative and managerial support to Council's Tenancy Management Department.
The Special Projects Officer will manage, implement and review housing management practices to achieve Council and Departmental Objectives within funding requirements and maintenance accurate and up to date records to ensure that Council is compliant with its responsibilities as a Housing Provider.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing Management
This role will work in collaboration with Housing Officers:
- To support the promotion of educational messages to tenants on aspects of tenancy management.
- Participate in client service visits, assist clients with maintenance requirements and associated documentation.
- Support the provision of high quality tenancy management services to tenants of region.
Ensure all Council Social Housing is being managed in accordance with the Social Housing Management Procedure.
Ensure effective occupancy is maintained for all Council Social Housing.
Undertake training to maintain and enhance your skill base and apply that training to improve performance of service delivery in the communities.
Provide regular audit of the housing register to ensure Council is compliant with its obligations as a housing provider.
Carry out day to day operational activities including maintaining information and records systems regarding rental and associated programs.
Review and action variance reports from finance to ensure that the Housing Register is up to date and accurate.
Occasional travel throughout the Torres Strait Islands is a requirement of this position.
