This is a rare opportunity to join our National Transport business and take ownership of our South Australin operations as the State Manager.
Based at our Direk site, the role will be responsible for planning, developing and coordinating an efficient, competitive and growing business.
With a focus on maximising revenue, minimising cost and increasing market share whilst ensuring a commitment to safety, compliance and all relevant legislation. You will drive continuous improvement while ensuring our key principles of people, quality, service, and costs are upheld.
What you will deliver on:
- Develop and execute state-level logistics strategies and initiatives aligned with organisational goals.
- Coordinate and manage the transportation and delivery of goods across the state/s.
- Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory management, storage, and picking procedures.
- Establish strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and transport partners, negotiating contracts and ensuring competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as the finance, commercial and compliance teams.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), such as shipping costs, delivery times, and inventory turnover, to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to transportation, safety, and environmental standards.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of logistics professionals, providing mentoring, coaching, training, and performance evaluation to ensure a high level of team effectiveness and engagement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including customers, providers, and regulatory authorities, to drive customer satisfaction and successful business outcomes.
- Strong awareness of industry trends, technological advancements, and innovative logistics practices, recommending and implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies.
What will you bring:
- Significant experience in logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, with a proven record of effectively driving high-performance cultures.
- Strong knowledge of logistical systems, processes, and best practices, with expertise in optimising transportation networks and warehousing operations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skill.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Proficient in using logistics management software and technology, such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Demonstrated high-level stakeholder engagement.
- Outstanding influencing and relationship building skills.
- Ability to establish mechanisms, apply a practical, results-focused approach, to effectively manage diverse risk in a complex organisation with multiple locations.
