Our client is embarking on the most exciting phase in its history, increasing their production capability by a factor of five times whilst at the same time reducing their energy and water consumption drastically. Not only are the company’s products recognized as essential to soil, plant and human health they are investing in sustainable best-in-class production processes.
Your Role
It is rare to find a role where you are involved in the start-up of a new production facility, can build a small team and drive the success of the company’s most significant production site. Collaborating with the marketing and sales team you will develop and execute customer-driven operational plans and budgets. This role demands a unique blend of production, maintenance and leadership experience as you are accountable for all activities on site.
Your key accountabilities also include
- Commissioning of the plant and equipment, ensuring all aspects of the investment thesis are met.
- Build a capable multiskilled operations team.
- Develop lean operations procedures and safe work instructions to ensure high levels of productivity and safety.
- Develop an interdependent safety culture where staff look out for one another.
- Work closely with the commercial team and build processes that ensure every order is filled, in full, on time.
- Develop and execute a staged plan for reaching operational excellence and continuous improvement of the operations.
- Develop and execute a management system to ensure all staff are clear on business and personal role objectives.
Ideally you will have broad operations and managerial experience. You will be familiar with operations where bulk inputs are supplied by road transport, then crushed, milled, blended, stored and packaged in bulk. You may be an experienced production supervisor ready to take the next step or a manager looking to work with an exciting, growing company. Most importantly you will relish the opportunity to take on a significant challenge and have the ethics and conscientiousness to ensure the safety and success of the operation.
Specifically, you will:
- Have a track record of successfully managing operations whilst building a positive workplace culture.
- Demonstrated the initiative to develop best work procedures, train staff and continuously improve operations.
- Develop and work within operating budgets and capital requests.
- Develop and adhere to systems of maintenance.
- A track record of working successfully with commercial teams and demonstrating exceptional customer service.
- The proven ability to work constructively with suppliers ensuring quality of all deliveries.
- Develop and manage production schedules balancing customer service and productivity.
