About The Role
We have a newly created position available within our Narrabri Underground Coal Operations reporting into the Technical Services Manager. The Superintendent Ventilation and Gas Drainage will be responsible for managing the ventilation and gas monitoring systems of the mine, in addition to, providing technical guidance in spontaneous combustion management.
The successful candidate will be offered FIFO from either Brisbane, Newcastle or Wollongong in addition to paid camp + salary + super + annual bonus.
What You’ll Do
- Develop plans of sufficient detail for weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, 3 yrs, 5 yrs and LOM budget and operational planning
- Manage the ventilation planning and operating parameters to allow safe and efficient operations.
- Ensure ventilation, gas monitoring, gas management and Gas Drainage is effective & compliant to legislation and all WHC Management policies, process, plan, procedures.
- Provide management of spontaneous combustion to proactively reduce the risk and actively manage any spontaneous combustion issues.
- Plan, manage and execute all Gas Drainage functions to enable the mine to meet operational targets. This includes pre and post drainage activities. Manage underground and surface drilling operations and contractors.
What You’ll Bring
- Australian Recognized Mining Engineering Degree or tertiary qualifications in an associated field
- Australian Statutory qualifications – Ventilation Officer & Deputy/Undermanager
- Proficiency in Gas Monitoring Systems – Safegas, Segas, GC, Tube Bundle
- Spontaneous combustion management experience
