But enough about us, let’s talk about you

We are in the market for an outstanding individual to develop and deliver the building services preventative and reactive maintenance works program and minor capital works to ensure that the City’s buildings, facilities and structures are well-maintained, fit for purpose and highly functional.

You will be someone who is able to get this done through the effective and efficient management of in-house carpentry, painting and graffiti removal tradespersons, and other building services.

What can you bring to the team?

  • Tertiary qualification, or Diploma in Building Construction and Maintenance or similar relevant qualifications;
  • Trade qualification in relevant discipline;
  • Five years or more experience arranging programmed maintenance activities in a Local Government or similar environment;
  • Qualification in leadership and management or equivalent (desirable);
  • Current unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s licence;
  • Construction Safety Induction Card;
  • Working at Heights Ticket;
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of construction and maintenance techniques including those relevant to carpentry, painting and graffiti removal services;
  • Strong awareness and knowledge of safety issues relating to the operation of equipment in the installation/maintenance of works in a busy, people filled environment;
  • In-depth knowledge of building and construction legislation, and the ability to interpret standards and codes;
  • High level of knowledge, experience and performance in budgeting and expenditure management;
  • High level of knowledge and performance in project and contract management;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships; and
  • Ability to manage and prioritise individual work responsibilities to achieve target outcomes.

The finer details

This permanent full-time Level 7 position attracts a starting salary $107,846 gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience as well as a restricted private use of a City vehicle (contributory).
