Role Description:
We are seeking dedicated Short Term AccommodationSupport Workers/Coaches to join our team for weekend stays (Friday-Monday). As a Support Worker/Coach, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of our participants during their stay at our retreats and events. You will be responsible for providing support to individuals with diverse needs, as they engage in our tailored programs aimed at gaming enhancement and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality support and assistance to participants throughout their weekend stay, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions.
- Facilitate engagement in scheduled activities, workshops, and gaming sessions, encouraging active participation and social interaction.
- Assist with personal care tasks and activities of daily living, as required.
- Collaborate with the program team to implement individualised support plans and strategies tailored to participants' needs and preferences.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of participant interactions, progress, and any incidents that occur during the weekend stay.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor, promoting personal growth, self-confidence, and resilience among participants.
Requirements:
- Hold or currently studying Cert IV in Disability, Aged Care, Cert III in Individual Support, or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working with individuals with diverse needs, preferably in a support or care role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with participants.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs and preferences of neurodivergent individuals.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to work a minimum of 1 weekend per month (Friday-Monday) and adapt to changing schedules and participant needs.
- A genuine passion for gaming and pop culture is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
- Possess working with Children Check (or be willing to obtain).
- Possess NDIS worker screening clearance (or be willing to obtain).
- Up to date First Aid and CPR certification (or be willing to obtain).
- Up to date Mental Health First Aid certification (or be willing to obtain).
- Training/Certification in Manual Handling.
- Satisfactory Police Check (no more than 6 months old).
- Full Victorian Driver’s Licence (car)
- Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Worker Orientation Module “Quality, Safety and You”.
