About the role: We are currently looking to speak to Sustainability Managers to join our national Rail And Transport business unit. The role will report into our General Manager Health, Sustainability, Climate & Rail Safety, driving sustainable outcomes and ensuring the Rail & Transport business creates value for John Holland, our customers and communities. Responsibilities of the role include: Drive a culture of contemporary thinking and best practice across Rail and Transport to address the needs of our customers and communities. Increase understanding of sustainability across the Rail and Transport projects and business unit through education programs that are aligned with John Holland Group's Sustainability Strategy. Promote the understanding of risks and opportunities related to sustainability across the BU and projects, ensuring well balanced long-term decision making is consistently applied. Ensure the BU and projects adopt John Holland systems, strategies, policies, objectives and targets from concept planning through to design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance to meet customer requirements and help increase profit and market share. Support the project teams' effective implementation of John Holland's sustainability requirements. Ensure consistency across the business unit through regular communication, knowledge sharing and governance activities with project base sustainability professionals. Support the tender review process and provide technical input to EOI, RFPs and tenders, demonstrating a strong understanding of sustainability goals, rating schemes and other related stakeholder requirements. Ensure the necessary support (including resources of suitable levels of competence) is available for the effective implementation of John Holland's sustainability requirements across the BU and on projects. Represent and advocate sustainable outcomes within the industry on behalf of the business unit. Ensure that Rail and Transport projects are prepared for and can adequately respond to sustainability events and emergencies. Monitor, measure and evaluate the sustainability performance of the business unit in order to support the continuous improvement of John Holland's systems and practice. What we are looking for: Bachelor of Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or other associated disciplines. Sound understanding of sustainability principles and application within the construction industry. Construction sustainability management. Demonstrated application of sustainability rating schemes and standards on projects. Knowledge of tender requirements, project planning, development, implementation and review.
