System Administrator

We have an initial 12 month contract available for a System Administrator to provision, maintain and support Windows servers, SQL and Web platforms, either on-premise or in the cloud.

What will you be doing?

• Participate in daily rosters, on-call support and security patching activities.
• Write PowerShell functions, T SQL scripts, puppet modules and cloud templates to improve efficiency and delivery consistency.
• Investigate new technologies which can provide value and reduce overheads.
• Technical administration of ICT services and advice for clients of partner departments
• Regular reporting for server availability, vulnerability and software compliance
• Compliance with technical architecture, security, change control, best practice configurations and incident/problem management methodologies

About you:

• Proven ability to work both autonomously and within a small team.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, vendors and customers.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organisation including senior management.

Experienced across:

• Windows, SQL and Web platform administration
• AZURE and AWS administration
• Puppet Enterprise administration
• Automation using PowerShell, Puppet, T-SQL and Infrastructure as code templates
• System Centre Configuration Manager, System Centre Operations Manager administration
• Active Directory administration
• Automation practices and DevOps methodologies
• General knowledge of VMware VRealise, Networks, Identity and Security infrastructure
