Position: System Administrator (12-month FTC Contract)
The office is conveniently located in the Sydney CBD, just minutes' walk from Central Station.
- Minimum operating system support: Ability to manage migration between Windows platforms.
- Server infrastructure expertise: Proficiency in server build, configuration, and migration.
- Experience required: Seeking experienced system administrators; not focused on service desk roles. Broad experience is essential.
- Immediate contribution: Must hit the ground running due to a backlog of over 2 years.
- Diverse company portfolio: Exposure to varied and medium-sized companies.
- Network and database proficiency: In-depth understanding of network configuration and database systems to ensure seamless migrations.
- Scripting proficiency: Essential PowerShell skills for basic batch scripting; experience with Intune or SCCM based off XML scripting is a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL: Understanding of ITIL principles, such as Change Advisory Boards.
- Backup and monitoring technologies: Experience with VEEAM and other backup and monitoring tools.
- Cool technology stack: Exposure to advanced tools and technologies despite the size of the business.
- After-hours support: Occasional after-hours work required for scheduled changes, with compensatory days off offered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain internal infrastructure including VMWare, SANs, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Manage Microsoft O365, Azure, Exchange, and Windows Servers (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Group Policy, Security Permissions).
- Proactively address security risks through monitoring and incident response.
- Plan and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies, with proficiency in Veeam preferred.
- Support SQL databases and firewall configurations, preferably with Palo-Alto experience.
- Provide networking support, including configuration and troubleshooting of switching and routing equipment.
- Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and provide technical support when necessary.
- Enhance system monitoring and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Participate in IT projects as required and provide Linux support.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 5+ years' experience as a System Administrator managing complex infrastructure.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with ITIL principles and experience in an ITIL environment.
- Tertiary education in a related field or equivalent experience, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Microsoft MCSE, MCITP Systems Administrator (Active Directory) certification preferred; M365 knowledge desirable.
