Job description
With recent news off the back of the Surface Fleet Review and expansion into the Defence Naval expenditure, our client is looking to grow its team of Systems Engineers in Canberra in support of one of Australia's largest Defence contracts for the RAN.Must have an active or reinstatable NV1 or above security clearance, and exposure to maritime or combat/weapon systems, ideally with an electrical, electronics or communications engineering background.
Experience across the Systems Engineering lifecycle (design, requirements, T&E, V&V, commissioning) is essential, and ideally you will have experience working within a SPO or CASG/DSTG environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems design, evaluation, test, integration, commissioning and verification and validation
Safety and risk engineering and management for the Project
Development and maintenance of engineering reporting
Supplier and sub-contractor relationship management
Naval sustainment activities and acquisition
Requirements gathering utilising key tools and software (i.e. DOORS, Jira, UML)
Test and acceptance of various weapons, combat and electrical/mechanical systems for platform integration
Communications with key engineering stakeholders
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
5 - 10 year's experience in Defence Engineering Projects
Engineering qualification of at least Bachelors level from an accredited organisation
Experience working with maritime based defence projects above or below the line
Knowledge of, and experience with, ASDEFCON suite of documents
Demonstrable ability to build trusting relationships, conduct business with cultural sensitivity and possess strong knowledge of the diversified satellite communications marketplace
Active or reinstatable Australian Government security clearance (NV1) or above
