As a member of the Chief Technology Office (CTO), you will contribute to all aspects of the technology products and services we deliver, from technical strategy and design to coding to deployment to operation. The CTO team provides the platform capabilities such as Private/Public cloud host, CI/CD and Observability tooling that is leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSec, CommBiz and Commbank.com.au..
We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half your time each month connecting in office. We also have many other flexible working options available including changing start and finish times.

The Observability team are responsible for the end-to-end ownership and adoption of enterprise scale Observability solutions and practices working closely with our platform and software engineering colleagues to embed telemetry and observability best practises.

We’re interested in hearing from people who
Have a DevOps and growth mindset with a desire to learn and share knowledge
Are experienced with the full SDLC and delivering + supporting products in an agile ways of working
Ensure that products meet SLOs in addition to business requirements including a focus on non-functional aspects such as security, reliability, performance, maintainability, scalability and usability.
Have some experience and knowledge of working with Observability tooling
Can coach others to embed best practises.
Tech Skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
APM products like AppDynamics or equivalent
Experience working with private cloud and public cloud architecture(s) with windows and nix based operating systems.
Coding languages such as Python or similar
Solid hands-on experience and knowledge of SDLC & ITIL practises
​Desirable:
Exposure to SRE best practises
Proficiency in real user monitoring, metrics, tracing and synthetics highly desirable
Exposure with Observability-as-code/monitoring-as-code implementations
Experience in transitioning or implementing large scale observability products in an enterprise environment
