Systems Engineer (Nv1 Clearance Required) – Canberra

Working for a Government Department in Canberra. NV1 Clearance is required to progress with this position.  The position is primarily a technical hands-on role and has responsibility to conduct capability development (lead System Architect) and configuration control tasks of mission networks including development of the Network SOE environment, implementing build sequence automation technologies, and managing the fixed root ICT infrastructures. Expansion of these environments is expected to occur within the term of the contract, and the candidate must be capable of providing technical leadership and support to system architecture planning for both development and maintenance phases.

This position requires a combination of disciplines including technical hands-on communications engineering, innovation, project management, test and evaluation, and documentation. As a technical subject matter expert within a small team the candidate will also be expected to contribute to the design of network integration solutions, as well as review project design documentation and provide advice on integration across system interfaces. It is expected that the majority of services delivered under this contract will be in Symonston, ACT. Some interstate travel may be required to support project stakeholder acquisition and sustainment activities, working groups, as well as field trials or exercises. International travel may be required to support coalition Army engagement priorities and exercises.

Deliverables

• Design, build and administer the Production, and Dev-Test environments of Deployable Local Area Networks based on the following technologies:

• Windows Server 2008 R2 (and later)
• SharePoint 2010 (and later)
• VMWare 5.1 (and later)
• Exchange 2010 (and later)
• SQL Server 2008 (and later)
• SCOM
• SCCM

• Install and configure NETAPP storage devices.
• Design, Install and manage the security architecture of Local Area Networks, based on the following technologies:
  •  ForeScout
  • Splunk
  •  McAfee

• Support the management of desktop and server SOE, including architecture design for expansion of deployed place in the network nodes and similar capabilities proposals in other environments.
• Project Manage and undertake technical lead activities for the innovation project to enable build sequence automation. This is inclusive of conducting hands-on scripting and SOE integration tasks using a combination of:

o PowerShell
o C#
o RedHat Linux

• Provide solution architecture management of the System Support Environment, including managing the design, change management, configuration management and documentation of Data Centre Dev-Test, and Production environments.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to Army exercises for role specific technologies and systems.
• Review, advise and contribute to the design of application or system integrated solutions for Land Network systems, and use the outcomes to inform CASG, Joint Capability Group and CIOG of technical readiness and capability options.
• Support innovation activities to demonstrate technology (such as cross domain solutions, or virtual reality platforms) integrations.

Security Clearances required for personnel working on this Task
The Contractor is required to have a minimum Negative Vetting – Level 1 security clearance at the commencement of the contract.

Security Guidance
The Contractor must hold the NV1 clearance from the commencement through to completion of the contract period. They must be willing to undertake NV2 clearance vetting if required.
