Position Title : Tax Accountant
Report To ( Position) : Senior Tax Accountant or Partners
Position Overview
- Our company is currently searching for a detail-oriented and qualified or near qualified Tax Accountant to prepare our clients’ tax returns leading to the lodgement to ATO. As the Tax Accountant, your chief goal will be to recommend effective tax strategies that comply with taxation laws and promote our company’s financial well-being. Your responsibilities will include preparing tax returns, analysing tax regulations, monitoring industry trends, and completing tax reports for clients.
- To excel in this role, you must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of accounting procedures and time management skills, as you will have to ensure our company meets strict deadlines, in particular quarterly BAS and annual tax returns lodgements to ATO. In addition to being an excellent communicator, our ideal candidate will also demonstrate keen attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills.
- An excellent Tax Accountant must have an exceptional, mathematical mind combined with a strong business orientation. You must be able to assume responsibility of tax accounting tasks and be both a strategist and decision maker. The goal is to contribute to the decision-making process of management that will ensure business growth and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns, payments, necessary paperwork, and reports.
- Assess and research difficult tax issues to identify solutions.
- Review and verify supporting documents provided by clients ensuring their proper submission.
- Properly research and seek the advice of senior-level accountants or business partners when confronted with particularly challenging or unusual or unsure tax circumstances.
- Work closely with clients to obtain the relevant documents regarding potential deductions including inform clients of important documents needed to complete tax returns accurately.
- Review financial statements, income, expenses prior lodged tax returns to identify the best strategy for completing future tax returns.
- Determine tax savings and recommend strategies to improve clients’ profitability.
- Ensure comply with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities and offer support and guidance during audits.
- Evaluate tax regulations and suggest policies that diminish tax burden.
- Keep track of industry trends and changes related to personal, company taxes.
- Prepare accurate quarterly and annual tax reports.
- Prepare to travel 2 offices between Burwood and Cabramatta.
- Manage and maintain the company’s tax database using Handisoft. Knowledge of MYOB and Xero is a bonus.
Competencies And Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a recognised university in Australia.
- A minimum of 3 years experience a Tax Accountant or similar role in a tax practitioner firm.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping processes.
- Good understanding of Handisoft, MS Office and excel spreadsheet software.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
- Outstanding written & verbal communication skills and excellent collaboration & communication abilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’ degree in accounting from a recognized university in Australia.
- Associate or full member of a CA or CPA is preferred.
Ability to speak Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese languages would be a great advantage.
