This is a twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2024 with possible extension.
Kiara College is seeking a dedicated and motivated Design & Technology teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant should have an inclusive approach with strong teaching and classroom management skills and the ability to challenge and engage all students, promoting an environment of active and positive learning. The capacity to deliver lower school programs across Design and Technologies, as well as upper school programs in Materials, Design & Technology: Wood and Building & Construction would be highly desirable. The ability to deliver lower school STEM electives (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) is highly regarded. The Technologies learning area has a strong team approach to ensure each staff member can contribute to, and support each other, in developing a culture of excellence within the teaching and learning programs.
Kiara College is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in the Performing Arts, Agriculture and ongoing STEM redevelopments where students can capitalise on real life and industry standard applications of skills in these areas. Catering for Years 7-12, Kiara College offers comprehensive and innovative programs that support students to achieve their potential. Students can follow an ATAR, General or VET pathways, preparing them for university entry, TAFE, or employment. Our partnerships with tertiary institutions such as UWA Aspire, ECU UniPrep and North Metro TAFE facilitate students’ success beyond school. We offer two Specialist Programs: Agriculture and Basketball. Students are also able to study Contemporary Music.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
