Blaxland High School is a comprehensive, co–educational school that services the educational needs of the community of the lower Blue Mountains from Lapstone to Warrimoo. Enrolment numbers around 1000 including 43 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students (4%). Blaxland High School has a strong tradition of student involvement in high quality creative and performing arts programs including musical theatre productions.
The school has forged productive relationships with partner primary schools as part of the Lower Blue Mountains Learning Community as well as with the University of Western Sydney through its Fast Forward Program.
Blaxland High School enjoys a strong reputation in academic, sporting, performing and creative arts achievements. We provide a broad curriculum, including academic extension programs, diverse electives and vocational programs.
1. Approval to teach Music, Music Extension 1 and 2 and VET Entertainment Industry- General.
2. Proven commitment and capacity to enhance student outcomes through the successful implementation of co-curricular programs including Band, Choir and Musical Theatre.
3. Proven ability to work in a collaborative and organised manner to effectively support students to meet the demands of VET education and higher level HSC achievement.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide engaging and differentiated teaching and learning programs with experience in meeting the diverse learning needs of students, including Aboriginal students.
5. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to work effectively as part of a team and develop positive professional relationships with students, staff and the wider community.
