About the role

Karratha is calling for positive and innovative Year 5/6 Teacher who strives to challenge students and create engaging learning environments within our bustling school and thriving local community.

Our teachers develop a strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum, and are skilled in effectively differentiating the curriculum to cater for K-6 students.  They are motivated and committed to creating an engaging, inclusive and challenging learning environment. Support is provided for our teachers through coaching and mentoring avenues, targeted at each individual teacher’s needs.

Located in the city of Karratha, the Pilbara Education Regional Office provides a range of expertise and responsive services, following an ethos that each child matters, every day. There are many opportunities for local collegiality and professional growth within the Karratha Network of schools.

Our school

At Karratha PS we value diversity and academic excellence. We are positive and inclusive. We embrace the values of care, personal best, responsibility and respect to nurture independent lifelong learners and active citizens. We are an Independent Public School located in the heart of Karratha, and our impressive facilities and beautifully landscaped grounds have been designed to be inclusive of our students. Our teaching staff is diverse and consists of graduate to lead teachers. We focus on providing support and professional learning opportunities to build skills and capacity in catering for more than 280 Kindergarten to Year 6 students.

The location and community

Karratha is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘good country’, and our city is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in the north of Western Australia. Nestled in the Ngarluma Country shoreline, the city of Karratha is known as ‘Munjaree’ – the heart of the West Pilbara Coast – and its size and central location make it the ideal base for exploring the local natural delights and adventure destinations including Millstream-Chichester and Karijini National Parks, the Point Samson and Burrup Peninsulas, the historical sites of Cossack and Roebourne, and the Dampier Archipelago which comprises a chain of islands, islets and rock formations.

Karratha is also the shopping hub of the Pilbara, and is home to a new $207m Health Campus. Our Red Earth Arts Precinct includes a 476-seater theatre, and the Leisureplex is the Pilbara’s premier sport and recreation venue housing a gym, pools, outdoor multi-sport courts and indoor stadium. Qantas, Virgin Australia and Airnorth currently operate several daily flight services to and from Karratha, ensuring that nothing is too far away in our safe and social community.
