This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2024

Dalmain Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly competent and enthusiastic Music teacher to join our team.

The successful candidate will ideally encourage imaginative and innovative exploration of The Arts and support students to reach their creative and expressive potential. Applicants with a thorough understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver the content in an engaging manner are encouraged to apply.

Experience working with ensembles, choirs and coordinating whole school performances will be highly regarded. A strong understanding of evidence-based teaching practices such as explicit teaching, differentiated instruction, high impact teaching strategies, and trauma informed practices will be advantageous.

Dalmain PS is a dynamic learning community which has been promoting academic excellence for 30 years. The school, located in the northern suburb of Kingsley, opened in 1990 and currently has a population of approximately 275 students. We have an active and involved school community with our parents and staff working collaboratively on school programs to further enhance the outcomes and opportunities for our students. Alongside parents, carers, and the wider community, we take a holistic approach to inspire every child at Dalmain PS to Care, Strive and Achieve.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
