Appointment Pool
Newman Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2025.

About the Role
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate, motivated and skilled educators who are committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches, explicit teaching and instructional strategies. They should exhibit a strong understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and should also possess the ability to plan for school improvement using and responding to all data sources, ensuring curriculum and pedagogical development is current and ongoing.
Suitable applicants should be flexible, adaptive, and be able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. Desirable skills in Talk 4 Writing training. The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships is important to this role.
Our School
Newman PS is a vibrant learning community located in the town of Newman in the East Pilbara region, approximately 1200 kms from Perth. Newman Primary School is ideally located adjacent to the central business area of Newman and close to many town amenities. We are an Independent Public School, enabling localised planning and decision making to improve the outcomes for all.
Newman PS provides a safe and caring environment where all students can develop the knowledge skills and confidence to achieve their potential. Our staff are committed to ensuring that all students are recognised supported and catered for. Students across the Kindergarten to Year 6 setting originate from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures including European, Asian and African. The school currently has a 25% Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander population. Our learning environment is enhanced by the support of BHP and its many community-based partnership programs. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
