Rooty Hill High School is a co-educational, comprehensive school in western Sydney with a current enrolment of 1100 students from Years 7-12. Over 50% of the students enrolled are from a non-English speaking background, including a large number of families from Asia and the Pacific. There is a significant enrolment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students (over 5%).
The school is committed to promoting its cultural and linguistic diversity and has strong academic and socio-cultural platforms that are enhanced by a broad academic curriculum, a strong vocational program and the opportunity for students to participate in a wide range of activities. The TAS faculty is responsible for the teaching and assessment of Stage 4 TAS Mandatory, Stage 5 Design & Technology and Stage 6 Industrial Technology.
Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Design and Technology, Technology Mandatory (Years 7-8) and willing to teach Industrial Technology Graphics.
Ability to work collaboratively with members of the TAS faculty to develop, implement and evaluate innovative teaching and learning programs.
Evidence of effective classroom practice and demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that meet the diverse needs of a range of students.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
