Job description

We are seeking experienced, energetic and client-focused Team Leader with supervisory experience supporting staff in SIL environments.  We support clients with a wide range of needs including mental health diagnosis, complex behaviours and other complex physical and intellectual disabilities.  Apply to be a part of our dynamic Engedi Team!
  • Full-time, 38 hours per week 
  • Availability Monday to Friday flexible office hours dependent upon house needs working in with shift starts and staff hand-overs;
  • One weekend required per month for On Call duty and onsite supervisory shifts (two weekday RDO per month to coincide with weekend roster) with weekend penalty rates;
  • Must have extensive experience working with a broad range of disability needs;
  • Previous staff supervisory experience desirable;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other industry related technology required;
  • Thorough knowledge of NDIS Code of Conduct, work place health and safety and associated legislation desirable;
  • Available for mid-April Start
  • Must be willing to complete all job responsibilities required as listed below. 

An Engedi Team Leader is responsible for providing oversight to staff in SIL and community environments with the focus of providing supports that are relevant to the client’s needs, that fit within their individual NDIS goals.

  Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide supervision and mentoring for up to 25 staff in allocated SIL homes
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture through regular contact with allocated staff members and physical presence in allocated houses.
  • Motivate team members – encourage creativity and empower the staff to make decisions through skill building and effective mentoring. 
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of houses.
  • Update care plans, medication summaries and all other client documents in houses, visual care and Service Delivery individual files as required.
  • Conduct regular Health and Safety Audits and Risk Assessments as required.
  • Sign off on New Starter competency according to audit standards and ensure new starters complete full training process within the first three months of onboarding.
  • Ensure process and procedures for all client needs including, but not limited to medication monitoring, manual handling, seizure management, diet plans, diabetes management, wound care, PEG feed and stoma care are followed.
  • Identify training and mentoring opportunities/needs among staff with above listed skillsets.
  • Ensure staff are aware of when and how to complete incident and critical incident report forms.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by contributing to health and safety consultation and communication.
  • Promptly respond to and report health and safety hazards, incidents and near misses to the Coordinator/Executive Manager.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions specific to position.
  • Provide support, guidance, coaching, leadership, and empowerment to the team including feedback through 

What you will bring:

  • Qualification in Disability Support (preferred)
  • Previous supervisory or mentoring experience
  • Client focus and industry knowledge from previous experience
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to take initiative and work as part of a team
  • Current drivers license and registered vehicle (mandatory requirement)

  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (mandatory requirement)
  • Basic computer literacy (training provided on our systems)
