Team Leader - Licensing

About the role
This position reports to the Manager, Licensing and sits within the Advisory & Licensing Division. The role is responsible for leading a team of licensing staff which assess, analyse and formulate recommendations regarding licensing applications and renewals in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004, the Dangerous Goods Act 1985 and associated regulations.
The Team Leader - Licensing is required to identify emerging operational and policy issues affecting the licensing requirements for WorkSafe and the Victorian community and be the key operational lead for internal and external stakeholders of the Licensing Branch.
The role is also responsible for ensuring that corporate and statutory key performance indicators (KPI's) are achieved by the Licensing Branch while ensuring that the quality of decisions are maintained at a high standard.
Key accountabilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of Licensing Officers and Senior Licensing Officers ensuring the delivery of a high level of customer service and support to the Victorian community
- Leading and performance management of Licensing Officers and Senior Licensing Officers ensuring activity levels and service quality is achieved
- Drive morale, motivation and engagement of team
- Continually work towards improving business performance and processes

About you
You are an experienced Team Leader passionate about making a difference. You have demonstrated experience leading teams from within a contact centre environment. Your communication and organisational skills are highly developed and you enjoy making a positive impact on your team and stakeholders. You are a natural leader with exceptional team building skills. You will also possess:
- Proven experience as a team manager, including the ability to provide regular feedback and undertake performance discussions against clearly defined goals and objectives.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation and representation skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with team members and internal/external stakeholders to drive shared outcomes.
- Effectively contribute to achievement of the team and organisational goals/objectives by assisting others through the provision of advice and direction.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a diverse stakeholder group including senior management, employer groups, unions and internal stakeholders.
- Keep updated with changes to legislation and guidance, both national and local. Strong ability to undertake effective research and analyse impact on current systems and practices and where appropriate propose changes to working and operating practices. Understand and act in accordance with polices and directives current at the relevant time.
- Solid knowledge & understanding of the relevant provisions in the Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004, the Dangerous Goods Act 1985 and associated regulations. (Desirable)
