Your Opportunity
Working as part of the ECQ Communication unit within Strategy, Policy and Governance, you will use your strategic media and communication skills to promote the ECQ’s activities and programs, advance the organisation’s objectives, support the conduct of electoral events, encourage public participation in electoral events and raise awareness of electoral processes.
Your Contribution
• Lead the media and social media streams in the delivery of quality reactive and proactive media activities.
• Develop strategies to support business objectives and emergent issues and projects, demonstrating a strong knowledge of strategic communication principles and approaches.
• Liaise and develop effective working relationships with media representatives including through the coordination of timely and accurate media responses and the identification of proactive media opportunities.
• Contribute to delivery of the ECQ's strategic communication objectives, including delivery of integrated corporate communication, stakeholder engagement, social media activities, and media and issues management.
• Demonstrate a strong knowledge of contemporary digital media approaches and processes in a government context.
• Prepare and coordinate high-quality media materials including media releases, responses, hot issues briefs and talking points that comply with whole-of-government policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage the Senior Media and Communication Officer and Social Media Coordinator roles and share expert knowledge across the unit.
• Develop systems, processes and evaluation tools to support the media and social media functions during election events.
• Demonstrate strong written communication skills with the ability to tailor content to specific audiences and/or channels including web, video and social media.
• Demonstrate skills in managing multiple priorities and ensuring key deliverables are met within required timeframes, applying a strong understanding of public sector corporate governance responsibilities.
• Consistently display the ECQ and Queensland Government values, ensuring that these are upheld at all levels of the organisation.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, knowledge of electoral and associated regulatory practices and a sound understanding of strategic communication, and experience in developing/delivering contemporary digital media activities in a government context are highly desirable.
