Who are St Pats?
St Patrick’s Community Support Centre (St Patrick’s) is committed to working in partnership with other agencies to support individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in obtaining stable accommodation, independence, and improved quality of life. We provide a range of services to support them on this journey, including emergency relief and meals, health and mental health services, drug and alcohol services, life skills training and a range of accommodation options.
About the Program
Youth Place is a partnership between St Patrick’s Community Support Centre and Youth Futures WA, funded by the Department of Communities. Based in Fremantle, Youth Place will deliver services through an outreach model to young persons aged 15 to 25 years of age, who are homeless or ‘at risk’ of becoming homeless.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the coordination of the Youth Place program
- Supported by the Support Services Manager, lead the Youth Place team to ensure that program goals are achieved, and reporting and contractual requirements are met
- Responsibility for assisting clients to resolve their homelessness through intensive case management that will address and overcome barriers
- Contribute to continuous improvement through assisting with planning and development of the program, including assisting with submission and grant writing and reporting as required
- Facilitate regular team meetings.
- Oversight of use of case management tools and development of resources relevant to the program.
- Delivery of quality service provision
About You
Essential Criteria
- Degree or Diploma Level relevant qualification (e.g. social work, youth work)
- Relevant experience in delivery of services to clients with complex or multiple issues
- First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake first aid training provided by St Patrick’s
- National police clearance
Selection Criteria
- Sound interpersonal skills, including a high standard of written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate understanding factors contributing to homeless as well as identify gaps and limitations while working with people experiencing homelessness.
- Demonstrate understanding and relevant experience working with youth at risk
- Competent level negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with high needs clients
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and ability to work independently when required
- Demonstrate understanding of issues affecting the Aboriginal and TSI community particularly in regards to transience and homelessness, cultural awareness and sensitivities.
