Job description

East Butler Primary School (PS) is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Technical and Administration Support Officer to join our team.
The successful applicant will assist with increasing the ICT processes in the school to ensure a better working environment for both students and staff. This includes maintaining Information Technology (IT) equipment through the school, including Apple iPads using Jamf School and Apple School Manager. You should ideally possess knowledge in maintaining school networks and providing network administration, including user access, changing privileges, re-imaging computers, setting up of accounts and password maintenance.
The successful applicant should use their excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with the Department of Education ICT Support to resolve hardware, software and network related issues and provide training, advice and support to staff on desktop and software applications. Time management and flexibility skills are key to ensure all duties are attended in a timely manner.
To be successful in this role, you should be able to work independently and, in a team, to assist with resource and equipment stocktakes, reporting and disposal of obsolete, surplus, or unserviceable resources and equipment, and assist with the management of school assets and coordinate and negotiate maintenance and repairs. Experience managing and maintaining websites and multimedia products will be highly advantageous.
East Butler PS is a small northern suburbs school who fosters an environment of strong leadership, open communication, diversity and inclusion. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Skills and experience in administering a computer network and software applications.
  • Conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to develop innovative solutions to information technology problems.
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and work with minimum supervision.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
