The Opportunity We are seeking a dedicated Technical Officer to join our team and provide essential technical support and assistance to the staff and students of the Faculty's studio and Hot Workshop facilities. In this role, you will leverage your theoretical and technical knowledge to effectively manage the delivery of technical support services, facilitating teaching and research activities across various studio approaches within MADA, particularly in the Hot Workshops. Your responsibilities will include setup and maintenance, procurement of materials, and instructing staff and students on studio processes within disciplines such as sculpture, glass, jewellery, and ceramics. As the Technical Officer, you will report to the Senior Technical Officer and work collaboratively within a team environment. Ensuring adherence to the University's Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards is crucial, and you will play a vital role in demonstrating safe equipment usage, monitoring compliance, and documenting dangerous goods in accordance with Victorian Government regulations. About you The successful candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas; hand-built ceramics, jewelry making, hot and cold glass processes, sculpture production processes, molding and casting, and/or non-ferrous foundry. Strong organisational skills, analytical capabilities, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are also critical for this role.
