About the opportunity
The Faculty of Science is currently seeking a Technical Officer to provide technical support in the laboratory, greenhouse and field. They support the operations of the hybrid crops research program, undertake experiments, and collect qualitative and quantitative data. They are also responsible for ensuring work, health and safety standards are observed in their work area.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide technical support and research assistance to staff, students, researchers, and other technical staff in the laboratory, greenhouse and field
- prepare experiments, practicals, and tutorials in accordance with scientific protocols
- analyse qualitative and quantitative tests by recording and computing relevant data following analytical tests and investigative tasks
- maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements including the safe and appropriate storage and disposal of hazardous substances
- prepare diverse scientific documentation and applications, including the collection and analysis of data
- assist with the inventory and purchase of consumables, including supplies for classes and practicals.
About you

- a degree in Agriculture Science or relevant field
- proven experience managing field crops, greenhouse and/or Laboratory work
- demonstrated experience or exposure to databases and/or statistical analysis programs

- experience or technical knowledge in research methodologies.
