Job description

Join our Building and Environmental Health Unit in a permanent full-time role, offering a great opportunity to contribute to our Onsite Sewage Management program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations and standards for Onsite Sewage Management Systems, overseeing their design, construction, operation, maintenance, and monitoring. You will serve as a key point of contact, engaging with the public, contractors, and stakeholders, addressing their inquiries and concerns regarding Onsite Sewage Management, and fostering effective communication 

About the role:
  • provide pre-lodgement advice in relation to various septic applications
  • conduct site inspections and evaluate performance of existing Onsite Sewage Management Systems
  • respond to complaints and conduct investigations into potential breaches of environmental and health regulations and standards
  • prepare and maintain digitalised records and reports

We are seeking:
  • minimum trade qualification such as plumbing, or equivalent experience in OSSM or a related field
  • knowledge of plumbing and drainage principles and best practice operation and maintenance
  • an understanding and capacity to apply relevant legislation, policy and procedures
  • competence in the use of computer systems
  • good customer service skills

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
