Job description

About the Role
Reporting to the School Manager, this role supports the planning and delivery of an annual program of events, as determined and agreed with the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies Director. The role will be required to work closely with a range of internal staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies. This will involve general administration and executive support work, as well as advisory board management and some finance-related tasks.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing high-quality administrative support to ensure efficient running of the day-to-day activities in relation CCCS
  • Providing executive and administrative support to the CCCS Director including diary management, collation of relevant material for meetings, conferences and seminars; and preparation of correspondence in a timely manner
  • Providing executive and administrative support to CCCS Advisory Board
  • Acting as the primary contact point for CCCS queries and responding with a high degree of accuracy
Who We Are Looking For
You will bring exceptional organisational and time/list management skills; as well as a high-level attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage complex relationships.
You will also have:
  • Completed an undergraduate tertiary qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Strong, demonstrated committee secretariat skills
  • Sound time management and organisational skills; including demonstrated experience in prioritising and effectively balancing competing demands
  • Collaborative skills, including the ability to work cooperatively and positively in a multidisciplinary based environment and liaise with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence and governance-related documentation with a high degree of accuracy

The CCCS acts as a hub for Contemporary Chinese studies in Australia, regularly hosting visiting scholars and supervising graduate researchers. It leads an interdisciplinary research program covering major social science disciplines, including sociology, geography, development studies, and public policy.
