The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.The PositionThis position is based in the Environmental Water Coordination team. Our team’s work has a high degree of collaboration with state government agencies, river operators and on-ground site managers. Together with input from First Nations and the broader community we plan, deliver and monitor the outcomes of water for the environment in the southern Murray–Darling Basin, with a particular focus on The Living Murray (TLM) program.The TLM Portfolio Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of a portfolio of environmental water entitlements. In this role you will track water allocations, trade and delivery volumes of TLM entitlements and work closely with other environmental water holders to plan and deliver environmental water events in the southern Murray–Darling Basin.Your key responsibilities in this role are to

• Maintain a register for The Living Murray (TLM) environmental water portfolio which tracks water availability, trades between accounts and delivery volumes throughout the year.
• Undertake analysis, strategy and reporting related to management of the TLM portfolio.
• Communicate TLM portfolio management issues and numbers in plain language to internal and external stakeholders in both verbal and written form.
• Contribute to the coordination of environmental water in the southern Murray–Darling Basin by liaising with other environmental water and river managers.
• Carry out strategic projects associated with improving the management of The Living Murray portfolio and broader environmental water to achieve the objectives of the Basin Plan.
• Contribute to broader tasks for the team as required, including representing the team at meetings and preparing briefing papers and other operational documents.
