About the role:
As the Treatment Services Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of sustainable sewage Treatment Services to meet the needs of existing and future populations while protecting the environment to enhance the liveability of our region. This work will be carried out in the context of the approved Corporate Strategic Plan and supporting management plans and strategies, such as the Treatment Services Roadmap, Total Water Cycle Management Plan, Asset Management Plans and Sustainability Plan. Your accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
- Provide technical direction to assigned Sewage Treatment Services Planning projects and assist in developing long term servicing strategies as well as preparing needs analysis for major projects, predominantly STP upgrades.
- Gather planning information for upgrading the STP’s with guidance of the team leader and prepare business cases once the needs analysis is approved.
- Undertake the commissioning and project management of specialist studies, including environmental impact studies, required for planning STP upgrades including preparation of project briefs and plans.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of statutory development applications for STP upgrades, and the development and review of budgets for capital works for assigned planning projects.
- Identify and develop partnerships and networks with key stakeholders and successfully manage internal and external parties to achieve high quality and timely outcomes.
About the you:

- Relevant tertiary engineering and/or strategic planning qualifications together with experience in the water and sewerage industry or similar asset intensive industry.
- An ability to learn and develop robust business process and support systems, within a quality framework, to effectively control workflow, resources allocation and records.
- Ability to work with established performance indicators, processes and systems to capture base performance data, analyse performance data, and use that analysis to support the team leader to undertake corrective action whenever necessary.
- Developed project and contract management skills with the ability to undertake multiple complex tasks and produce high quality outputs.
- Previous experience in drafting complex reports and assist in writing detailed reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including consultancy and negotiation with a focus on provision of quality customer service.
