About The Opportunity
As one of two permanent, part time Information Officers with East Gippsland Shire Council, you’ll promote tourism throughout the East Gippsland region by providing outstanding customer service to residents and tourists visiting our Visitor Information Centres. You’ll take on:
- Delivering, maintaining, and promoting a welcoming and professional level of customer service across all customer interactions.
- Maintaining a high level of knowledge of tourism developments and information across East Gippsland.
- Actively promoting East Gippsland Visitor Information Centres through preparation of tourism marketing materials in conjunction with the Visitor Information Centre Supervisor and promoting East Gippsland at relevant consumer and trade shows both intra and interstate.
We have two roles on offer working across our Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance Visitor Information Centres with between 15 and 19 hours on offer in each positions. Please note, you must be willing and able to work weekends and public holidays.
What We’re Looking For (Key Selection Criteria)
- Previous experience in customer service, particularly in Visitor Information Centres.
- Ability to undertake a variety of tasks concurrently with minimal supervision.
- Highly developed communication and administrative skills including use of online tools to communicate with audiences.
- Ability to communicate verbally with a wide variety of people is essential i.e., visitors from overseas who may find communication difficult.
- Well-developed knowledge of the East Gippsland Region and the tourism activities in general
If successful, you’ll need to undertake a National Police Check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
