About the opportunity:
The Cue Gold Operation (CGO) houses three underground projects including Big Bell, Fender and Great Fingall and the Tuckabianna processing plant.
The Big Bell and Fender Underground operations are located 34km's west of the Cue township and produces a combined total ore supply of 1.5Mtpa.
The two mines adopt very different mining methods, Big Bell is a unique longitudinal sublevel cave while Fender is the traditional Longhole open stope mine. Both mines are managed from one central location at Big Bell which improves both efficiencies and synergies between the operations.
We are currently seeking an experienced Underground Manager to join the senior CGO leadership team, based at Big Bell you will oversee the management of both our Big Bell and Fender operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating all operational and technical aspects of the mines.
This diverse role will see you working with two Alternate Managers and technical teams to oversee Big Bell transition from mining a sub level cave to a large-scale stoping operation with paste fill and Fender as a steady state small scale mine.
You will be accountable for upholding statutory compliance in relation to safety and health obligations for the mining activities. You will demonstrate visible leadership, actively promoting safety whilst you work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to ensure an effective safety culture continues across the sites.
Big Bell, being a large complex mine requires continuous tracking, reviewing and diagnosing of mine physicals, activities, plans and improvements. You will have a demonstrated ability to effectively diagnose performance challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
Reporting to the General Manager, this position is offered with a 4 days on, 3 days off roster FIFO from Perth with an attractive remuneration and incentive package on offer.
What do I need?
- WA First Class Mine Managers Ticket
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- 5+ years in a mining leadership role
- Competent in Mining Software (Deswik) and a proficient user of the Microsoft Suite
- Be passionate about developing and mentoring a team
- Strategic planning exposure and managing personnel from owner operator underground miner through to senior technical personnel
- Ability to plan and schedule safety parallel to mining physicals rather than having safety being managed downstream
- Exposure to various mining methods
- Demonstrated experience with preparing operational plans, budgets and capital expenditure projects, along with having a strong financial acumen.
