  • VPS Grade 3: $74,580 - $90,558 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit:Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is part of the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime in Victoria. The Victim Services Support Operations team within VSSR is responsible for the delivery of specific services, including the Victims of Crime Helpline, the Victims Register, as well as managing and overseeing the state-wide Victims Assistance Program (VAP).About the Role:The Victims Register provides trauma informed responses and information to eligible victims (or their nominee) about an offender who is serving a sentence in prison.Some of your duties will include:
  • As part of a team, responding to telephone and written inquiries from victims of crime in respect of the Victims Register and other victim services as required
  • Assisting in preparing high quality and timely correspondence and reports and provide information and advice to other key stakeholders regarding the Victims Register and other victim services as required
  • Assisting in the operational functions of the Victims Register and other victim services including the provision of information relating to key stakeholders as per information sharing protocols

  • An understanding of the criminal justice system and the victim service system
  • Experience in direct human service delivery where there are sensitive and complex client needs
  • An understanding of the nature and dynamics of family violence, the legislative and service system contexts in which family violence services are delivered and best practice modelsof responding to victims
  • Experience in effective use of computer systems and maintaining a database andconfidential use of information.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) and/or experience in social work, criminal justice or similarqualifications in relevant disciplines will be considered highly desirable.
