Role Spotlight
The Volunteering Support Officer is responsible for providing support to the Volunteering Manager, empowering them to effectively govern and operate UMSU Volunteer Programs. This position includes coordinating aspects of UMSU Volunteer Programs, providing administrative support to Volunteering Department and People & Community Division, and assisting with the development, planning, and delivery of new and existing programs for all UMSU volunteers.
Core Responsibilities of Your Role
Program Coordination
- Coordinate aspects of UMSU Volunteer Programs including, but not limited to, planning, recruitment, rostering, training, and implementation of programs as designated by Volunteering Manager.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with UMSU volunteers, promoting a positive and inclusive volunteer experience.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of volunteer programs regularly and implement improvements based on feedback, changing needs, and best practices in volunteer management.
Administration Support
- Offer administrative assistance to the Volunteering Department and People & Community Division maintaining accurate records, databases and documentation.
- Support the Volunteering Manager in effective use of the Better Impact platform in managing the Volunteer life cycle for all UMSU Volunteer Programs.
- Ensure all volunteers have a current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and if relevant a Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Your Expertise (Need to Have)
- A clear understanding and commitment to the principles of volunteering.
- Developed organisational skills to effectively manage tasks in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated experience recruiting and working with volunteers.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within a multicultural environment.
- Relevant experience and/or education in relevant field.
- A valid employee Working with Children Check or willing to obtain.

This is a full-time ongoing role (35 hours per week), position with a starting base salary of $82,108.79 plus 12% superannuation.
