The Mornington Shire Council is a Local Government Authority providing range of services to the twenty-three islands of the Wellesley Group located 125kms north-west of Burketown, 200kms west of Karumba and 444kms from Mount Isa, in the southern section of the Gulf of Carpentaria, residing within the State of Queensland. The island is 2.5 hours flight from Cairns.
Mornington island is the largest island of the group and the township of Gununa located on the southern end of the island, contains the Council’s officers and workshops, the community's primary services providers are also based here such as the local Schools, the Hospital and Aged Care, Emergency Services and other Government Agencies, Shopping and town also houses the majority of the Shire’s population.
The Role:
A great opportunity within our Warehouse Division for a Warehouse Administration Officer to join the team. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- To deliver a high level of customer service to the Council warehouse by assisting the Warehouse Manager in the daily administrative functions of the division.
- To provide administrative support to the team and the community.
- Participate in stock take, cost control and accurate inventory transactions using a computerized inventory system.
- Liaise with supplier on status of Purchase Orders
- Process and file completed Job Cards
- Check Timesheets for accuracy/approval and scan through to Payroll.
- Raising Purchase Orders for approval and updating electronic files
- Administration of all paperwork and data entry within reasonable timeframes.
- Financial awareness of how each action affects a financial outcome.
- Check goods received against orders and pass on to relevant customers as soon as practicably possible. Guide other warehouse staff where needed.
- Input warehouse items issued into the Inventory system daily.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills including the proven ability to interact effectively with Aboriginal people and to work as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to high work standards and delivery of services to internal and external clients and stakeholders.
