The Community Engagement Officer - Leasing is part of the Community Partnerships team and is a strategic and customer focused role responsible for managing Council’s community leasing portfolio. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners within the community and provide advice, build relationships and apply community development principles to decision-making.

We’re looking for a person who will be responsible for engaging with community groups, is a key point of contact for those groups, and has a strong focus on continuous improvement and collaboration. A critical part of the role is understanding the community and developing capabilities in others through partnerships, coaching and managing expectations. The person will support a range of community groups to align their activities with Council strategies to achieve improved outcomes.

You are compassionate and community-minded, with a deep understanding of diverse communities and their needs. A strategic thinker, you’ll bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in community development, leasing management, or social development. You thrive in challenging situations, applying your problem-solving and negotiation skills to resolve issues and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

You will also meet the following: 

  • Degree level qualifications in Community Development or Business or a relevant discipline or at least 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge or the ability to interpret Plans of Management, Crown Land Legislation, community management structures and community development principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulation and policies
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills when liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
