Job Description
The objective of this position is to assist in the technical aspects of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Council’s Water and Sewer systems. The Water and Sewer Engineer ensures that the technical requirements of the Water and Sewer system are met, allowing compliance obligations to be clearly identified, fulfilled on time, and reported to relevant stakeholders.
Your essential experience to meet the requirements of the role will include:
- Create and maintain procedures and processes, including compliance plans and programs, for the efficient operation and maintenance of Council’s Water and Sewer systems.
- Assist with the review and implementation of the Drinking Water Quality Management Plan, including statutory reporting and incident response.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of, Management Plans relating to current needs including trade waste, incident and emergency response, recycled Water and Customer Service Standards.
- Develop, implement and report on sewage treatment plant operation to ensure compliance with management plans and regulatory requirements and to identify possible process improvements.
- Provide expert advice to stakeholders on matters associated with the water, sewer and recycled water business.
- Assist in the preparation of Asset Management Plans
Your existing capabilities and skills will include:
- Prior knowledge of water infrastructure and operations, including associated pumping and treatment plant operation and relevant legislative requirements applicable to these activities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in an engineering or environmental discipline.
- Demonstrated understanding of legislation relevant to the operation of water operations in local governments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver programs, compliance standards, management plans and reporting relating to the efficient operation and maintenance of Council’s Water and Sewer systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills to articulate complex water/waste information and data in non-technical jargon.
