Our client provides their services across a number of industry sectors such as building construction, industrial, mining and resources, transport infrastructure, environmental etc. and you will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of a number of challenging projects.
Types of projects include build earthworks, demolition, excavation, retention, piling, foundations, ground improvement, soft and hard landscaping, site remediation and rehabilitation etc. Typical values from $2.5 to $25m but can go up to $50m+.
As WHS Officer, you will be involved in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety management are carried out across all construction sites. Candidates can come from a Health and Safety Advisor or Manager background.
This role is for a potential project which will be based on site in the Fraser Coast area, the candidate will either live locally or DIDO (drive in, drive out). 5 days on site, 2 off.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- At each stage of the projects, assist in identifying and managing high risk activities
- Liaise with design teams and contractors in forward planning for safety and coordination of work activities
- Carry out independent health and safety audits on all aspects of construction management
- Plan, develop and implement reporting and communication structures to enable accurate assessment and evaluation of health and safety management performance
- Assessment of accident, incident and near miss reporting, evaluating findings and monitoring implementation of any corrective / preventative measures
- Attend planning and coordination reviews for day to day and long term safety planning of work activities
- Ideally a Diploma in Health & Safety or a Cert IV
- 5 to 10+ years’ experience with background in working in construction health & safety
- Ability to thrive in high pressure, fast paced environment
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- High level of organisation and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
