About Brigidine College Indooroopilly

Brigidine College is a Kildare Ministries school in the Brigidine tradition. It is an Independent Catholic Girls’ Secondary College with an enrolment of over 920 students. We commit ourselves to the education and empowerment of young women within the framework and challenge of Catholic philosophy.

Being a part of the Brigidine community means you are working with others who are passionate about learning and enjoy working in a strong, values driven culture.

About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Woodwind Tutor and Ensemble Conductor to join our team on a casual basis.

The number of employment hours is determined by student enrolment in the program and may vary from term to term, however it is anticipated that the position will be 1-2 days per week inclusive of lessons and Ensemble rehearsal. You will have the ability to run small group lessons and Ensemble as part of our year 5 instrumental music program. The successful applicant would need to be available Wednesdays between 12.30 and 4.30pm and all day Friday. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in private tuition outside the classroom environment.

Applicants may be asked to perform to ascertain their level of skill.

For further details, the position description is available on the College website.

About You

The ideal candidate displays an obvious drive and passion for instrumental programs. With an engaging communication style and a positive attitude, you will have demonstrated ability to build rapport and interact effectively at all levels of the College.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Successful applicants will be enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, hard-working and able to communicate effectively with students and their parents, as well as College music and administration staff.
  • Tertiary pedagogy qualifications and previous teaching experience (in schools or privately) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills, and the ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment.
  • An understanding of the need to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes.
  • Current full registration, or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration as a teacher in Queensland (required if classroom teaching).

Applicants are expected to support the Catholic ethos of the College, and must obtain and maintain a Blue Card, or be eligible for Queensland Teacher Registration. The No Card, No Start law means you must have a Blue Card before you can start work. If you do not have a blue card, you can be job-ready by applying online through the applicant portal on the Blue Card site.

Why join us?

  • A friendly, respectful and supportive place to work with a strong focus on employee well-being including free annual flu vaccinations and Employee Assistance Program
